August 20 (THU) -Upon arrival at Keflavik Airport, clear Passport Control and head to Baggage Claim. Once you’ve collected your luggage, proceed to the main hall where you’ll find the Fly/Bus or your local driver. While the ride is under an hour, it’s a good idea to use the restrooms before boarding. At the hotel, your Coddiwomple Travel host will greet you. You can safely leave your bags at the hotel and set out to explore until check-in at 3:00 p.m. This evening, we’ll gather at the hotel bar for a Trip Briefing.
August 21 (FRI)- After breakfast, we’ll set off on one of Iceland’s most popular adventures, the Golden Circle Tour. Today’s stops include Thingvellir National Park, the Geysir Geothermal Area, Fridheimar Farm, Kerid Crater, and the stunning Gullfoss (Golden Waterfall). We expect to be back in Reykjavik by around 5:00 pm, with a 45-minute stop at the Expo to pick up race packets. After a little time to freshen up, we’ll stroll over to our pre-race dinner. (B,D)
August 22 (SAT) - Race day! The marathon and half marathon starts at (8:40am), the 10K starts at 9:40am. The hotel is just a 15 minute walk from the start/finish line. This evening you are free to explore and enjoy Culture Night on your own. (B)
OPTIONAL Visit Hvammsvik Spa - We have secured reservations for a visit to the Hvammsvik Spa. We will provide roundtrip transportation from the hotel to the Hvammsvik Spa, admission to the pools, inclusive of towel).
August 23 (SUN) - After breakfast, we set off for a full-day tour of Iceland’s South Shore, where you’ll be amazed by the beauty of Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls. The ever-changing scenery of South Iceland features powerful volcanoes, majestic glaciers, and roaring waterfalls, making every moment unforgettable. Our journey begins at Skógafoss, one of Iceland’s largest and most breathtaking waterfalls. We then head to the charming seaside town of Vík for lunch (available for purchase) before visiting the famous Reynisfjara black sand beach, a dramatic setting used in several TV series and films. Here, we explore its volcanic pebble shore, striking basalt columns, hidden caves, towering cliffs, and the iconic Reynisdrangar sea stacks rising from the ocean. Continuing along the scenic coast, we stop to take in the vast Sólheimajökull glacier and breathe in the crisp, icy air. Our final stop is Seljalandsfoss, where, weather permitting, you can walk behind the cascading water. This tour offers an incredible glimpse into the diverse and captivating landscapes of South Iceland. (B)
August 24 (MON) - Farewell! After breakfast, you will transfer back to Keflavik Airport. It is recommended that you allow a minimum of three hours prior to your scheduled departure time to check in. It is a popular travel day and lines can be long. (B)
